GTA: Little cars

In another moment of weakness, I purchased Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for my Sony PSP. The PSP was an earlier moment of weakness. I don’t need a hand held game platform as I’m surrounded by computers most of the time, but the moment it supported wireless web browsing I needed one. My Palm TX does a much better job now, that’s another story.

This version of GTA takes place in the same Liberty City as GTA3; the only other in the series I’ve played. It looks great, but my old eyes probably aren’t the best for judging. Did I mention I don’t need a hand held? What was I thinking? I’m too old to be playing games on this little screen. Sheesh. Everybody says it looks good though.

Controlling your vehicle with the small thumb controls is rather squirrelly, over steering is difficult to avoid. I’m not sure I’ll ever acquire great skill or nuance with my driving. So far, I’m just trying to run into as few things as possible. I spend more time just cruising than actually running missions. I did a rather spectacular jump last night, I received a bonus, and was trying to extract my stolen vehicle from the fence I was entangled in when a group of fellows showed up, pulled me from my car, and kicked my ass. I wish I’d had my baseball bat with me. I’d of broken some heads.

The radio stations are a giggle. I may be turning into some kind of fuddy-duddy though as I find them too mature for children. I can’t believe I purchased a PSP. What an idiot. I wish they’d had these in my youth, when I could see.
