WoW: Deadmines and Wailing Caverns - damn straight

Posted in on April 3rd, 2006

Mike is working late this week so we didn’t know if he was going to show up Monday night. Mark and I made a run at Deadmines, we could gate back to Crossroads if Mike came on.

We blimped to Strangle Thorn Vale and ran from there. That’s not a safe place for a 21 Priest and 22 Warrior; I died once on the road. There is an Alliance guy at the cross road, in Duskwood, that chased us, but we survived. We were careful after that and arrived at the Deadmines without further incident.

We got a lot of rude gestures from the Alliance going in, which we ignored. I can imagine some newbie seeing us come through. I suppose a big cow and a troll passing would be something to see for the first time. I’ve got an orange mo-hawk that awed them as well, we drew a crowd, but it was short lived, we move fast. We’d only gotten into the second chamber, of the instance, when Mike came online. We gated back to meet him.

We had about an hour left so headed into Wailing Caverns to collect a few more hides for our last quest. The contrast from just a few weeks ago when we entered at 18 was striking. Every fight was a risk and we sometimes lost then. Now, with a 22 Warrior, 21 Priest and Mage, we had to depend on humor and tricky moves to make it interesting. It was one of those nights when you go into cruse control and glide. Everybody dinged. We are officially done with Wailing Caverns.

Off to Blackfathom Depths Friday. Mark and I took our Warrior and Priest to BFD Saturday for a look-see. We made it to the named turtle, Ghamoo-ra. He had too many hit points, we had too few. We couldn’t put out enough damage, he put out way too much. I think we can take him with Mike’s Mage.

Time change redux

A couple of weeks ago I had a daylight savings time miss-fire when my beloved Palm jumped ahead prematurely. I wandered the house deciding which clock to trust, settling on the digital cable box. Turns out, that was a mistake.

My bedside clock correctly made the jump this weekend along with my computer. My cell phone and the cable box are still wrong over 24 hours later. Oops, I just check my cell phone and it now knows the correct time.

The worst part is the stove. It has one of those push and turn changing mechanism. What a pain. I use the turn off the breaker method in the fall, but that’s only for an hour. I’d have to turn it off for 23 hours in the spring. Next time I’m getting a smarter stove.
